Sorry for no update, Thursday and Friday were crazy around here, so let me get caught up really quickly so that I can finish my programming homework this weekend and post regularly this week! ;-)

Grey’s Anatomy-  Can I just say “THANK YOU SHONDA RHIMES!” for finally giving us a female character who decides to ‘play the field’ and date more than one person at a time!  Thank you, Dr. Grey for NOT making a choice between the two…it serves McDreamy right!

CSI- What another great episode! I can’t believe Sam got shot, but doesn’t that mean that she’s now wealthy beyond imagination?

Six Degrees- I never realized how much I would like this show, it’s very interesting andn the storylines are intriguing, and it’s just a good all around show!

And I’m missing some stuff, like how farkin’ CHEESY Ghost Whisperer was last night (SNORE!) and how great Numb3rs was…and I’m sure that there are more…OH YEAH! I wanted to write about Survivor, it’s finally getting more involved and I can tell who I’m going to like and who I’m not going to like…and what makes Candice so freakin’ special? Did I miss something?

Ok, more on Monday with Housewives and all that! Have a great weekend!!! Oh don’t forget ‘Lost’ premeieres this week! Don’t miss it!

*excuse anny typos, I’m in a huge hurry and my N key sticks sometimes, sorry!*

Tuesday’s Premeires September 27, 2006

Well last night was Gilmore Girls, which I reviewed over at Pass The Remote, go check it out to see how I felt about the new writing (it’s not bad, promise!)

Also last night was ‘Help Me Help You’ with Ted Danson as a psychologist who runs group therapy.  It was very ‘Dear John’-ish in that it’s about the lives of a group of people who all attend the same group therapy sessions.  It even had the dude that was in ‘Dear John’ which I found a little weird, but decided to give the show a chance.  It wasn’t that funny.  I’m sorry, I love Ted Danson and even like to watch ‘Cheers’ reruns on TVLand, but really…it just wasn’t that funny.  The characters weren’t introduced that well, it was sort of like “Oh here, we’re going to tell you a story and here’s so-and-so and they have intimacy issues” Next please….  It just didn’t draw me in like most shows do.  Hopefully it’ll pick up within the next three episodes, but I don’t see how it could pick up anymore, it’s just really drab.  I’m actually having a hard time remembering what I watch last night…Dude that resembles Jason Ritter (that was creepy!) who tries to commit suicide, falls on his boss….likes a chick in the office, asks her out, she rejects him, he finds a chick who, like him, has some issues….blah blah blah…..Luckily for ABC and Ted Danson, there isn’t anything else in that time slot that I’m missing because of this show, or I’d cancel the season pass and move along…but I’ll stick it out.  I’ve always been a glutton for punishment.

Monday night football and very little TV September 26, 2006

Filed under: Television — tvturtle @ 2:29 pm

Well, since I usually watch CBS shows on Monday, last night was a slim TV night.  There was the Falcons/Saints game…and since I live in Atlanta (THe Flacons) and am a HUGE Saints (New Orleans) fan…it was definately something I switched to to check the score…I’m so excited that my team, who is usually last in the league, actually won last night and are now undefeated at 3-0! Go Saints!!!!

Studio 60 was excellent last night as usual and I really just love that show!  There were great, laugh-outloud moments and moments where you just stopped everything and paid attention.  Kudos for the creators of that show, they have done and excellent job so far!

Tonight is the premiere of my favorite show of all time, Gilmore Girls…I wrote a little diddy over at Pass The Remote about the premeire if you want to check it out!

I’ll be back tomorrow with more about Gilmore Girls and tonight’s TV! Have a great Tuesday night everyone!

What a Sunday! September 25, 2006

First off, I’m writing for Pass The Remote, doing recaps and stuff on Desperate Housewives, Gilmore Girls and teaming up with TVFan on Lost!  I’ve already written my first entry on ‘Housewives’, so my take on the premiere, go to PTR and check it out! :-)

On to last night’s TV-

Amazing Race- Ok, I’m going to be the first (that I know of) to say it….Peter (of Peter & Sara), is an asshole.  He’s constantly pushing Sara by reminding her “Show them how tough you are! Show them your strength! RUN!”….Now, if I were Sara I would see this as he is a little uneasy that his girlfriend has one leg and he wants to prove to everyone that his girlfriend is better than anyone else, despite her diability.  I’m sure a lot of people see it as he’s just ‘cheering’ her on…but seriously, his tone would make me smack him upside his head with my shoe (or in Sara’s case, I’d use the leg!)….He’s an ass, in my not so humble opinion, he’s an ass.  Ok, he’s coming across as an ass on TV, is that better? Maybe he’s a really swell guy, I don’t know.

David & Mary are my faves….They’re just simple folk who probably thought “Hey! Let’s do THAT!! That looks like fun! It’ll be a free vacation! SWEET!”  And they got on the show and I LOVE THEM!  They’re just happy to be traveling, they aren’t nasty or condecending, they’re just who they are and that’s ok.  And I swear the highlight of the show last night was when they were talking about Tom & Terry and they looked around and said in their quiet voices “We ain’t never been around gay people before.” Then Mary chimed in “I REALLY LIKE ‘EM!”  That was great!! I love it! GO Mary and David!!!!

And can I say I was a little sad that the cheerleaders got booted, they tried really hard and busted their tails and I actually felt bad for them.  I usually don’t care this early on, but they really did give it all they had.  I’m hoping that some folks in the back of the pack move up front so that the ‘uppers’ will get all territorial and then we can see some good drama! I just love The Race!

Without A Trace- Excellent start to the season!  Nothing overly dramatic happened, but it was a good show as usual.  Let’s see if I think that after next week’s episode, the stripper episode as I’ll call it…..grasping at straws much?

Brothers & Sisters- Ok, when I first read about this show I thought “Wow, that sounds like it could be really good…but it will probably suck.”  Then I realized that Sally Field and Rachel Griffiths are in it (yeah, Calista is in it, but we won’t hold that against the show, besides she actually did a fairly good job with her character!).  I’ve loved Rachel Griffiths since Six Feet Under (yeah she was on other shows, but I don’t remember her from any of those) and I am so glad that she has another show, she’s a talented actress!  Anyway, back to the show…EXCELLENT SHOW!!! I am throughly wrapped up in this show now! There was enough intrigue to leave me wanting more, but without being too over-the-top, the characters gave enough background information on themselves to give me a good idea of who everyone is and the conflict between the mother and daughter is excellent…Sally Field is the best actress…EVER! Watch this show if you haven’t already, it’s worth an hour of your time, trust me.

Between Brothers & Sisters, Studio 60 and Men in Trees, this new season of TV has proven fruitful! And we still haven’t seen Ugly Betty!!  Wow, we have way more TV on our TiVo than any normal person should have…..I should read more.

Washed up Actors & Reality TV…Match made in heaven? September 24, 2006

So I’m sitting here browsing around my school’s site and just playing on the ‘net…..minding my own business with TVLand on in the background when I hear Mr. T’s voice “I PITY THE FOOL!” and then he goes on about how the world is full of ‘fools’ and he’s going to set them straight.  Now, look….I’ll be the first to admit that I watched ‘Chasing Farrah’, yes, yes I really did watch it.  It wasn’t TiVo’d if that’s any consolation, but at night while I was in bed playing video games on the DS I would occasionally pause my game and watch an entire episode if it was good enough.  I actually kind of like watching all these older celebrities from my childhood in their ‘reality’ series.  It’s entertaining to get a glimpse into their lives and see how they are doing now, all these years later. It’s like ‘Little Debbie TV’…so very, very bad for your brain, but oh so dangerously entertaining.

Yeah, so back to the point at hand…Mr. T and his new show on TVLand….It’s so cheesey I can’t wait to see an episode……….lawd help me….

Friday Night And All Wasn’t Right September 23, 2006

Filed under: Dramas, Fall 2006, New Shows — tvturtle @ 1:06 am

Ghost Whisperer….Ok, the dark dude is a little silly.  And the whole good and evil thing kind of ticks me off….I won’t go into it, but they really play this show like it was a ghost story that was told at a girl’s slumber party.  And the clothes they make poor Jennifer Love-Hewitt wear…that poor girl!  Next week’s episode looks sort of interesting…it’s really more just to see where they’ll take it…but I’m not banking on the old boyfriend thing being that interesting.

(NOTE: I had high hopes for this next premiere, the ending of last season was superb, so I was anticipating this premiere all summer….I hate to be disappointed)

Close to Home….ugh, what a crappy thing to do…kill her husband off then bring in a handsome, classy character for her to fall in love with.  It’s clear as day.  Not to mention turning this into a whole ‘cop’ series instead of just a lawyer show.  That could actually make this show more interesting or it could send it down the tubes.  At least the acting talent is pretty good.  I remember watching Jennifer Finnigan when she was new to ‘The Bold & The Beautiful’…and dang she was young!  But she really grew as an actress, but it’s still hard to see her as a powerful attorney when I first saw her as a rich chick’s bratty kid.

Ok, what’s up with the new cast?  It’s like a whole new show….her husband dies, they fire everyone, add some detectives, and POOF! It’s three months later and hey look we have a whole new show called ‘Close to Home’…Ok, obviously they were afraid of jumping the shark so they took a show whose premise was all about crime in suburbia and have made it ‘gritty and raw’…..if it’s a show about suburbia, why were they in a city shaking down thugs?  I mean I could go downtown to the quaint little city block that makes up historic downtown and I won’t be finding any thugs….farmers in overalls maybe…but no thugs.  I’m pretty sure that
Indiana is similar.  I had the story pegged in the first 15 minutes and I had the season pegged with the first preview….husband dies, handsome, young DA moves in and one of the female ADAs finds him attractive, yet he’s attracted to the other female
ADA who happens to be the grieving widow. Who only has one weepy scene about her late husband in the whole episode….Then the new DA asks her out for drinks and says something sarcastically charming and she gives the camera  nice flattered smile…….yeah, whatever.

I’m not sure if I’m liking this new ‘Close to Home’….maybe I will….maybe I won’t.  The new DA is annoying me, “Oooh look at me! I’m from New York and am now in
Middle America, I know more than anyone else!”  It’s forced and predictable…They have one season to make me a believer.

Numb3rs…..Numb3rs is my comfort TV.  I use a lot of food references to my TV, like Big Brother is my TV Cheetos, total junk food TV…nothing of substance whatsoever.  Numb3rs is just my happy place, sometimes the story is a little far reaching, but I really just like the characters and the math in the show really helps my inner geeky girl to feel OK.

Men in Trees – Damnit! This is a great show, that won’t be on very long…it’s a crappy timeslot and it hasn’t been advertised….why do I always fall in love with the great shows that no one is watching?

Law & Order – Can they go through detectives any faster?  Jerry Orbach is VERY hard to replace, but dang…..

Damnit! I hate it when I do that!! September 22, 2006

Filed under: Dramas, Fall 2006, New Shows — tvturtle @ 8:18 pm

Last night was interesting.  First off, I have been saying that ‘Shark’ was going to be cheeky and stupid….instead, I liked it.  I hate it when I make a prediction that I’ll hate a show and I end up liking it.  It isn’t my favorite new show, but it was good enough to keep on the TiVo.  Six Degrees was ok, I want to see more though…great soundtrack too!

CSI was good, perfect premiere…they left us hanging about Catherine and her mysterious night at the bar.  And the final scene with Danny Bonaduce and the diorama! Dude that was excellent!  Grey’s Anatomy could learn a little from the CSI folks…I was a little disappointed in the season premiere….they wrapped up a little and did leave us hanging a little with Izzy and her internship, but still…I wanted a bit more drama.

I remind myself that premieres are really just there to get us acquainted or reacquainted with the characters and storylines…so I give every show at least a few episodes, or a whole season…sometimes I just go until I can’t take it anymore and I stop paying attention (that’s usually when the hubby gets involved in that show and I end up being bored with it!)….So, even though I wasn’t gah-gah over Grey’s Anatomy, I’ll keep watching because I’m sure the season as a whole will be awesome!

Survivor…well survivor was a little weird….I think Zoot summed it up nicely, go read her take on it, she makes excellent points and puts it better than I could!

Right now it’s Ghost Whisperer, which I know is stupid and cheesey, but it’s like a trainwreck that I can’t bear to turn away from.  Close to Home and Numb3rs is also tonight, more on those tomorrow! I hope they’re better than Ghost Whisperer……

Will Jericho go up in smoke? September 21, 2006

Filed under: Dramas, Fall 2006, New Shows — tvturtle @ 5:14 pm

Hmmm…my thoughts on Jericho can’t be published yet, because I don’t have any thoughts….well I do, but nothing that is solid, yet.  It could turn out to be a great show that I just can’t wait to see more of, or it could go down the tubes.  The writing is going to be crucial in this show and for its success.  I’m not a writer so I can’t say what needs to be done, but making the main character so mysterious is a little campy….But we’ll see how it all turns out next week, it really is a VERY interesting story and I hope that the writers take it in a great direction!  I’d love a new drama that pulls me in and makes me stay there.

Tonight is Survivor, which I love survivor!  Who doesn’t love people making fools of themselves on national TV?

OH!!! And Grey’s Anatomy!!! I can’t wait for that one! I might just watch it live WITH COMMERCIALS AND EVERYTHING!!! Because I’m not sure that I can wait for it to go 30 minutes so that I can forward through commercials!  CSI also has its season premiere tonight, which will be quite interesting I’m sure!  We plan to record Shark, but honestly with James Woods and that chick from cheeky fox shows…I’m not getting my hopes up for it, but I’ll keep the mind open, even if just a little!

Well, last night let’s see what was on the TiVo;

Rerun of Gilmore Girls (didn’t watch it, but it’s there so we’ll probably watch it to refresh us on where they left off last season)
Dog The Bounty Hunter- It’s was his normal ‘Get that Muthafucker!’ episode…nothing new and fancy…BUT, I did find out that he was arrested for bounty huntingin Mexico where it’s illegal! When did this happen and how did I not know about it?  I found out about Steve Irwin’s death within HOURS of it happening, yet Dog is arrested and released and his family tapes an episode and I’m still sitting here in my cave under my rock playing spades with the neighborhood brontosaurus…….

The Unit- It was pretty good, I knew that Tiffy and Mack wouldn’t leave, I mean HELLLLLOOOOOOO her affair and his abuse are about the only things in that show that interest me…and I’m sure 90% of the viewing public.

Boston Legal- I just LOVE this show, it’s never dull, it never ceases to make me giggle at the outrageous attitudes and behaviors of these characters, I just love me som Denny Crane…and the doll, OMG the doll was great!

Smith- Uhhhhh, whhhaaaaa…hhhuuuhhhhh? Oh yeah, Smith, that show where he’s suppose to be this super meticulous bad guy yet his team made more mistakes than a thug holding up a liquor store….Yeah, I’ll keep watching it, but only because there’s nothing else in that spot..but it didn’t suck me in and make me want a new episode.

Million Dollar Listing- HA! Those rich people are crazy…I think it’s a prerequisite to being rich, you must be either stupid, crazy, or both, preferrably both!

I still have an episode of Buy Me (HGTV) on the TiVo to watch, those people are sooo funny when it comes to selling their houses!  And the episode of Dog ‘The Family Speaks’ about his arrest….that should be interesting!

So, Smith wasn’t a total wash for me, but it isn’t my favorite new show…right now my fave is Studio 60, but we’ll see……

It’s a new season…let the predictions begin September 19, 2006

Filed under: Fall 2006, New Shows — tvturtle @ 8:22 pm

Well last night was the first full night of new TV.  As you can tell from my TiVo lineup I watched mainly CBS shows with a little sprinkling of NBC for good measure.  Here are my takes on the shows;

The Class- I really hate it when a great premise to a show ends up being written all wrong.  I watched the show but don’t remember much.  There were a few funny parts, but the writing is going to have to get MUCH better in order to keep it on the air.  One thing that I’ve found from watching most shows on DVD…by the end of the first season it’s either on its way to being a keeper or it’s dying a slow, miserable death…I really hope ‘The Class’ makes it, I love Jason Ritter and he was robbed with the cancellation of ‘Joan of Arcadia’!

How I Met Your Mother- I really like this show, just for the simple fact of “WHO IS THE MOTHER!? AND HOW DID THEY MEET!?”  I just really hope that the Marshall/Lily and the Ted/Robin relationships don’t turn into a Ross/Rachel thing.  It was after the big ‘breakup’ episode of Friends that I stopped watching…..I mean how many times can a couple break up and get back together before it’s boring the hell out of everyone? (Obviously a lot, seeing as Friends was on forever after that episode…they did redeem themselves with the Chandler/Monica thing, though.)….And oh how Doogie has grown up, I love Neil Patrick Harris!

Prison Break- Ok, so it wasn’t the season premiere but still…let’s talk about this show for a minute, shall we?  I really hate how this show keeps me nervous.  Those boys are ALWAYS getting into trouble and NOTHING goes their way, just once I’d like to see them get lucky…just once! Ok, so they got ‘lucky’ and escaped..but still!!  It makes me nervous to watch!!

CSI:Miami- Ok, the lines are cheesey, the databases that these folks have access to are AMAZING! And I have to remind myself that it’s all fictional, including the city of Miami….it’s a fictional Miami and in a perfect Miami they’d have databases for everything and could solve a crime in 10 minutes and shoot a billion people and travel to countries and shoot more people and then say something totally campy and ‘David Caruso’-ish…..yeah, that’s what I’ll tell myself……..

Studio 60- OMG! This is great! I really liked it, the performances were awesome! Each line was delievered quickly and in succesion and it didn’t feel the least bit forced or rehearsed…I’m quite impressed! The storyline is great, the acting is great, the premise is great…I was praying to myself last night “No credits! Not yet! PLEASE!!!!”  But alas the credits rolled and I must wait a week for the next episode…….Matt Perry totally let go of his alter ego Chandler Bing and I’m proud of him! This is a great show!

Tonight is The Unit, Boston Legal and Smith….I doubt I’ll be dissappointed by any of those…especially Boston Legal, if you’re not watching Boston Legal, you need to…No other legal show has ever come close to Boston Legal, David E. Kelly is a genius, hats off to him!! William Shatner and James Spader are beautiful together!  Seriously, if you haven’t seen this show, TiVo it at least..it’s a great show!
